If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that nothing feels quite as good as a full night's sleep. When you sleep well, it sets the tone for the rest of your day. You wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. It's almost like the world knows when you sleep well: your morning coffee hits just right, the sun shines just a little brighter, and you've got a little extra pep in your step.
Your friends and colleagues may notice, too, especially if good sleep is becoming a foreign concept for you. If it is, you're not alone - according to the CDC, people around the U.S. are in need of some serious zzzz's - more than 1 in 3 Americans aren't getting enough sleep. Perhaps even more shocking is that 40% of people fall asleep during the day once a month, according to the National Institutes of Health. Experts agree that most folks should get at least seven hours of sleep a night, but in reality, most Americans struggle to get five or six.
While some ultra-rich CEOs claim they only need a few hours of sleep a night, that's not true for most people. In fact, your body and brain will hate you if you're not getting enough shuteye. If you're feeling sluggish, unmotivated, snappy, achy, sick, or just down in the dumps, you may not be getting enough sleep. Take a moment and think about all the different things that have happened in your life over the last decade. Maybe you graduated college or got the job of your dreams. Perhaps you got married or moved to a new home in a new state. But if you're like the average person, one thing remained the same: your mattress. It might be surprising to hear, but the average lifespan of a mattress is between seven and ten years.
Letting go of your old, worn-out mattress might be hard, especially if it's served you well over time. As with most products, however, nothing lasts forever. But how do you know when it's time to ditch your old bed and choose a new MLILY mattress in , TN? Here are just a few of the most common reasons that customers tell us when it comes to buying a new bed.
Is your mattress starting to smell less like roses and more like the dirty socks in your hamper? When your mattress gets smelly, it's most often a result of mold, fungi, and mildew buildup over time. There's not too much you can do to avoid this from happening, especially if you live in a humid climate. So, the next time you change your sheets, give your mattress a sniff. If it smells funky, it's time to upgrade.
If your mattress has a noticeable sag, it's a surefire sign that you need to get a new mattress. Mattresses sag because, over time, coils begin to weaken, and memory foam loses elasticity. If you lay down on your bed for a moment, get up, and your bed sags instead of returning to its original appearance, your mattress is nearing the end of its life.
Waking up in pain is basically the an thesis of what a mattress is supposed to do. Due to wear and tear over time, even the best mattresses lose their ability to support your body. If you've been waking up with dull aches and pains in your hips, lower back, or shoulders, it's a red flag. Finding a comfortable, supportive mattress like an MLILY Fusion Lux is of utmost importance.
Constantly moving side-to-side or switching positions in the middle of the night is a great way to get your partner angry. It's also a big sign that you need to consider buying a new mattress. Like the supportiveness of our mattresses, general comfortability also lessens with usage and time. Here's the truth: You shouldn't need to toss and turn to get comfortable in your bed. If you are, your mattress has probably declined in quality and needs replacing. You shouldn't ever have to put your sleep health on the line for an uncomfortable mattress.
It might sound obvious, but the #1 reason why people choose to buy a new mattress is to get better sleep. Sleep, in and of itself, is a bit of a mystery - somehow, our bodies just know when it's time to clock out for the day and go to sleep. But if you've been sleeping on a poor quality or dilapidated mattress for long enough, you might have become used to the feeling of lackluster sleep. If that sounds like you, we're here to tell you that you're missing out.
Getting a great night's rest is one of life's little pleasures, but according to experts, it's also much more than that. If you swear by limiting your sleep to be more "productive," you may be doing yourself a disservice.
When you don't get enough sleep on a regular basis, it can lead to serious heart issues like high blood pressure and even heart attacks. Why? Because poor sleep causes your body to release cortisol. This stress hormone causes your heart to work harder. That's great in some situations, but long stretches of poor sleep are quite bad for your heart. Like other parts of your body, your heart needs to rest in order to function correctly.
Getting a cold is never fun. But if it feels like someone slapped your head with an anvil when you get the sniffles, you may need better sleep. When you get great sleep, the proteins and immune cells in your body have a better chance of fighting off things like the common cold and flu. Your immune system also helps mitigate symptoms like runny noses, congestion, headaches, and more. Without the right sleep, symptoms from colds and cases of flu will be much worse.
Do you roll out of bed and feel like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh? You're probably not getting great sleep. When you sleep well, you wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready to attack the day. Your energy levels are high, making life's little annoyances more manageable. And when you're not annoyed, you're typically not angry. When you're not angry, you're only a half-step away from being happy. So, put on our PJs and get to bed early on an MLILY mattress in , TN. Your friends and family will thank you!
Earlier, we mentioned how some people purposely lose sleep so that they can be more productive. On the surface, that makes some sense since you have more hours in the day to dedicate to work. However, burning the midnight oil again and again is a bad idea. Eventually, you'll start making mistakes that an afternoon pot of coffee won't fix. Instead of cutting your sleep short, try getting more. Studies show that great sleep is linked to higher cognitive function and improved concentration. If you're not purposely limiting your sleep, it's time to ditch that old mattress and swing by Sleep King.
Getting eight or more hours of sleep doesn't mean you're going to lose lbs. overnight. But getting better sleep can seriously help with your diet or weight loss goals. When you get poor sleep, your body creates a hormone called ghrelin that causes you to get hungry. It also lowers the amounts of leptin in your body, which is a hormone that lets you know you're full. With great sleep, these hormones remain balanced, so you don't wake up finding for a sugary bowl of Captain Crunch.
If you're sick of mediocre sleep and want to take on tomorrow with a fresh mind, better sleep begins with MLILY mattresses Near Me Johnson City, TN. When you trust our mattress store Near Me Johnson City, TN for MLILY mattresses, you're already taking the first steps towards better sleeping habits.

Americans are making major moves this year. And apparently we're all looking to move to the same spots.
In March, MoveBuddha released its list of the top trending cities for movers across the U.S., forecasting where people will move from and to in 2025. The company considered internal data collected from its Moving Cost Calculator, analyzing searches made from July 2024 to March 2025 with a “planned move date” at any point in 2025.
Johnson City in Tennessee emerged as the most desired destination in the U.S.
According to MoveBuddha, the city, which is home to 100,000 residents and is located just an hour north of Asheville, North Carolina, "is a university town nestled in the Appalachian foothills near the famed multi-state hiking trail, where mountain biking, camping, and fishing lakes beckon."
Johnson City was followed by Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Summerville, South Carolina; St. George, Utah; and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Americans Are Moving to These 2 Southeastern U.S. Cities—and Both Have Low Cost of Living, Great Weather, and Stunning Beaches This Western U.S. City Has the Top Housing Market in the U.S. for 2025
"These cities suggest movers are particularly drawn to smaller cities with outdoor and scenic appeal," the company shared. "Meanwhile, interest in Duluth, Georgia, Summerville, South Carolina, and Gulfport, Mississippi, suggests plenty of interest in suburban enclaves away from larger cities."
The company also noted that affordability seemed to be top of mind for all 2025 potential movers, as 26 of the 50 top cities it analyzed had an average home price under the national average.
"Some top cities are relatively cheap: Johnson City, Tennessee; Huntsville, Alabama; Shreveport, Louisiana; Fairbanks, Alaska; and Kingman, Arizona, for example, all boast home prices under $300,000," it shared. "That’s not only under the national average, but it also comes alongside desirable living conditions, whether it's Johnson City and Fairbanks’ outdoor access or Huntsville’s thriving job market."
MoveBuddha noted that not everyone using their Moving Cost Calculator will actually make that final move. "We won’t know for sure where today’s movers really go until 2025’s census data becomes available in the spring of 2026, but their interest can tell us a lot about their dreams and plans for the coming year before they even move," the website explained. Hawaii was excluded from this year's data.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WCYB) — BrightRidge announced Tuesday it is putting a moratorium on data center project proposals in its service area, including the one that was being considered in south Johnson City.
It's the first time BrightRidge has confirmed it was planning a data center for a property it purchased in Johnson City. News 5's Caleb Perhne asked a spokesperson directly Wednesday if the company was planning a cryptocurrency mine on the property, but BrightRidge declined to comment.
PREVIOUS STORY | Residents fight cryptocurrency mine zoning in Johnson City, BrightRidge silent on plans
It comes after BrightRidge settled a lawsuit with Washington County, Tennessee in October 2023 over allegations of zoning violations with a cryptocurrency mine in Limestone. Residents complained for years about the noisy computer fans at the site. The settlement requires the mine's closure by March 2026.
BrightRidge's announcement also comes amid public backlash to the planned Johnson City site and proposed zoning changes that would add data centers, including cryptocurrency mines, as a permitted use in the heavy industrial district. Residents opposed are set to meet Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Ashley Academy. City leaders said the zoning changes would be more restrictive compared to current zoning code, which does not mention data centers.
You can view the full statement from BrightRidge below:
BrightRidge values the perspectives of the region’s leadership and the long-term economic health of the communities we serve when considering the feasibility of any new development in our region. For this reason, BrightRidge is putting a moratorium on entertaining proposals for new data center projects in our service area, including the one being considered in south Johnson City.
BrightRidge is a proud regional leader in the adoption and deployment of innovative technology, and we are fully aware of the many benefits a next-generation data center could bring to the communities we serve. However, in the case of the south Johnson City project and other similar projects in the near term, the costs currently outweigh the benefits for the communities we serve.
The site in south Johnson City is zoned for industrial use and retains great value to BrightRidge and our customers as a potential power substation and/or a wholesale electricity delivery point for a future industrial user. For this site and others, BrightRidge remains committed to working collaboratively with community leaders to identify future industrial projects that will deliver economic development, create great jobs, and maintain low power bills to the residents we serve.
The data center facility located in Limestone, which is currently operating under a settlement agreement with Washington County, remains on track for closure in March 2026.

Tennessee is among the most popular places to move to in 2025, according to PODS.
The moving company recently studied which cities people are flocking to and which cities people are moving out of the most in 2025. Four Tennessee cities were ranked for the most move-ins.
Tennessee was the second-most represented state on the move-ins list, just behind North Carolina, which made up one-fourth of the PODS' top 20 cities for move-ins in 2025.
The moving company credits the lower-than-average cost of living and proximity to picturesque nature as reasons why so many people were moving to Tennessee and North Carolina.
"Both the Carolinas and Tennessee boast lower-than-average costs of living, Southern charm, and lively culinary scenes as big draws," PODS said. "The Carolinas shine with a larger diversity of nature that ranges from mountains to beaches to forestlands, while Tennessee offers residents rivers, lakes, mountains, and plains."
East Tennessee dominated the PODS list. Knoxville, Chattanooga and Johnson City were all ranked.
The Scruffy City ranked eighth, maintaining its position since 2024. PODS noted that the East Tennessee city is particularly popular city for young professionals, according to PODS
Johnson City was ranked No. 14, moving up one spot from its 2024 ranking. Chattanooga was unranked the year prior, now taking the No. 11 position as the most popular city to move to this year.
Of course, Nashville was also present on the list, ranking No. 9. West Tennessee was unrepresented in 2025.
The Journal of Consumer Research seconds PODS data: Tennessee is booming.
The journal conducted a study where they asked 122,584 ConsumerAffairs users who expressed interest in moving between March 2024 and March 2025.
The annual study revealed that 3,933 people had an interest in moving to Tennessee, while 2,656 users looked to move away.
When it comes to the state's net average of people migrating and moving away, Tennessee ranked No. 3. Like the PODS study, Tennessee fell short of the Carolinas. North Carolina took the No. 1 spot and South Carolina ranked No. 2.
Tennessee is generally considered a good state to move to, as it has a lower-than-average cost of living, no state income tax, a moderate climate, and close access to nature, according to Rocket Home.
These cities have the highest number of move-ins, according to PODS data.

Whether you're moving for work or looking for a place to retire, there are many considerations to take into account when deciding where to relocate. The cost of living is a big one, but so is the quality of life. MoveBuddha has investigated where people want to move this year, and the top choice is a pretty mountain town in Tennessee with great hiking, biking, and breweries. We're talking about Johnson City, Tennessee.
Located in the mountains about 100 miles northeast of Knoxville, Johnson City has a population just over 70,000 and home prices well under the national average. Besides being surrounded by beautiful scenery and trails, Johnson City is home to East Tennessee State University. The small city also offers multiple museums and venues for live music.
In general, moveBuddha notes that small cities are most attractive to people right now: "movers are particularly drawn to smaller cities with outdoor and scenic appeal."
Other Southern cities movers are considering include:
MoveBuddha came up with its results by using search data from its Moving Cost Calculator between July 2024 and March 2025 with a planned move date of 2025. We won't actually know where people move to until Census data comes out next year, but it seems likely there will be a few new faces in Johnson City.
