If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that nothing feels quite as good as a full night's sleep. When you sleep well, it sets the tone for the rest of your day. You wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. It's almost like the world knows when you sleep well: your morning coffee hits just right, the sun shines just a little brighter, and you've got a little extra pep in your step.

Your friends and colleagues may notice, too, especially if good sleep is becoming a foreign concept for you. If it is, you're not alone - according to the CDC, people around the U.S. are in need of some serious zzzz's - more than 1 in 3 Americans aren't getting enough sleep. Perhaps even more shocking is that 40% of people fall asleep during the day once a month, according to the National Institutes of Health. Experts agree that most folks should get at least seven hours of sleep a night, but in reality, most Americans struggle to get five or six.

While some ultra-rich CEOs claim they only need a few hours of sleep a night, that's not true for most people. In fact, your body and brain will hate you if you're not getting enough shuteye. If you're feeling sluggish, unmotivated, snappy, achy, sick, or just down in the dumps, you may not be getting enough sleep. And it may not be your fault - that old, dilapidated innerspring mattress that you're sleeping on may be the true culprit.

Fortunately, Sleep King is here to help you get on the fast track to falling asleep with the ultimate comfort of MLILY mattresses in Brunswick, GA.

5 Ways to Tell If You Need a New Mattress

Take a moment and think about all the different things that have happened in your life over the last decade. Maybe you graduated college or got the job of your dreams. Perhaps you got married or moved to a new home in a new state. But if you're like the average person, one thing remained the same: your mattress. It might be surprising to hear, but the average lifespan of a mattress is between seven and ten years.

Letting go of your old, worn-out mattress might be hard, especially if it's served you well over time. As with most products, however, nothing lasts forever. But how do you know when it's time to ditch your old bed and choose a new MLILY mattress in , GA? Here are just a few of the most common reasons that customers tell us when it comes to buying a new bed.

Pungent Odor

Pungent Odor

Is your mattress starting to smell less like roses and more like the dirty socks in your hamper? When your mattress gets smelly, it's most often a result of mold, fungi, and mildew buildup over time. There's not too much you can do to avoid this from happening, especially if you live in a humid climate. So, the next time you change your sheets, give your mattress a sniff. If it smells funky, it's time to upgrade.

Saggy Mattress

Saggy Mattress

If your mattress has a noticeable sag, it's a surefire sign that you need to get a new mattress. Mattresses sag because, over time, coils begin to weaken, and memory foam loses elasticity. If you lay down on your bed for a moment, get up, and your bed sags instead of returning to its original appearance, your mattress is nearing the end of its life.

Pain

Pain

Waking up in pain is basically the an thesis of what a mattress is supposed to do. Due to wear and tear over time, even the best mattresses lose their ability to support your body. If you've been waking up with dull aches and pains in your hips, lower back, or shoulders, it's a red flag. Finding a comfortable, supportive mattress like an MLILY Fusion Lux is of utmost importance.

Tossing and Turning

Tossing and Turning

Constantly moving side-to-side or switching positions in the middle of the night is a great way to get your partner angry. It's also a big sign that you need to consider buying a new mattress. Like the supportiveness of our mattresses, general comfortability also lessens with usage and time. Here's the truth: You shouldn't need to toss and turn to get comfortable in your bed. If you are, your mattress has probably declined in quality and needs replacing. You shouldn't ever have to put your sleep health on the line for an uncomfortable mattress.

What are the Benefits of a Good Night's Sleep?

It might sound obvious, but the #1 reason why people choose to buy a new mattress is to get better sleep. Sleep, in and of itself, is a bit of a mystery - somehow, our bodies just know when it's time to clock out for the day and go to sleep. But if you've been sleeping on a poor quality or dilapidated mattress for long enough, you might have become used to the feeling of lackluster sleep. If that sounds like you, we're here to tell you that you're missing out.

Getting a great night's rest is one of life's little pleasures, but according to experts, it's also much more than that. If you swear by limiting your sleep to be more "productive," you may be doing yourself a disservice.

Better Heart Health

When you don't get enough sleep on a regular basis, it can lead to serious heart issues like high blood pressure and even heart attacks. Why? Because poor sleep causes your body to release cortisol. This stress hormone causes your heart to work harder. That's great in some situations, but long stretches of poor sleep are quite bad for your heart. Like other parts of your body, your heart needs to rest in order to function correctly.

Boosted Immune System

Getting a cold is never fun. But if it feels like someone slapped your head with an anvil when you get the sniffles, you may need better sleep. When you get great sleep, the proteins and immune cells in your body have a better chance of fighting off things like the common cold and flu. Your immune system also helps mitigate symptoms like runny noses, congestion, headaches, and more. Without the right sleep, symptoms from colds and cases of flu will be much worse.

Improved Mood

Do you roll out of bed and feel like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh? You're probably not getting great sleep. When you sleep well, you wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready to attack the day. Your energy levels are high, making life's little annoyances more manageable. And when you're not annoyed, you're typically not angry. When you're not angry, you're only a half-step away from being happy. So, put on our PJs and get to bed early on an MLILY mattress in , GA. Your friends and family will thank you!

Increased Productivity

Earlier, we mentioned how some people purposely lose sleep so that they can be more productive. On the surface, that makes some sense since you have more hours in the day to dedicate to work. However, burning the midnight oil again and again is a bad idea. Eventually, you'll start making mistakes that an afternoon pot of coffee won't fix. Instead of cutting your sleep short, try getting more. Studies show that great sleep is linked to higher cognitive function and improved concentration. If you're not purposely limiting your sleep, it's time to ditch that old mattress and swing by Sleep King.

Supercharge Your Weight-Loss Efforts

Getting eight or more hours of sleep doesn't mean you're going to lose lbs. overnight. But getting better sleep can seriously help with your diet or weight loss goals. When you get poor sleep, your body creates a hormone called ghrelin that causes you to get hungry. It also lowers the amounts of leptin in your body, which is a hormone that lets you know you're full. With great sleep, these hormones remain balanced, so you don't wake up finding for a sugary bowl of Captain Crunch.

Social Security Administration employees nationwide were notified about cuts to "non-mission critical" positions.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The Social Security Administration announced a restructuring, which will include "significant workforce reductions."

The Department of Government Efficiency lists five social security offices closing in Georgia, including the Brunswick location on Juniper Court.

The DOGE website lists it as already closed - but there was a steady flow of folks in and out of the office Friday.

"I don't come that often, maybe once or twice a year, but you have people that come once or twice a month," said Tiffany Miles as she went in to pick up a new social security card.

Miles says she typically only goes to the social security office in person if she has an issue with her card.

"Online is not always easy," said Miles.

However, Miles says she may wind up trying to take care of her business online more often when the Brunswick office shuts down.

The Department of Government Efficiency reports on its website it terminated the branch's lease, saving nearly $350,000.

That leaves the next closest branches in Jacksonville, Waycross and Savannah - each at least 50 miles away.

"Tragic for a lot of us," said Miles. "I had to borrow a car just to come here. Imagine if it was Savannah, or some place further."

All Social Security Administration employees also received an email, informing them about a workforce reduction in all "non-mission critical positions."

It gives employees two weeks to apply for a reassignment to an essential position or options for voluntary early retirement, with payouts ranging from $15,000 to $25,000.

"They say times are changing, right? We just have to learn to adjust, adapt," said Miles.

First Coast News asked the Social Security Administration's media team when the branch will close and what it recommends for people serviced by it. They provided the following statement:

We are working with GSA to review our leases and ensure they are used efficiently. Most of the leases we are not renewing are for small remote hearing sites that are co-located with other Federal space. As the majority of our hearings are held virtually, we no longer need as many in-person hearings locations. In fact, in FY24, twenty percent of these offices held no in-person hearings. Other offices are non-public facing, being consolidated into nearby locations, or we had planned to close. Social Security continuously monitors and evaluates the use of our office space to maximize efficiency for the American taxpayer. Please contact GSA if you have further questions.

Alabama assistant calls out receivers and their 'weak-ass haircuts' during 2024 season documentary

Alabama wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard lit up his position room at one point during the 2024 season.

Mike Rodak3 hrs

Alabama wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator JaMarcus Shephard questioned the habits and toughness of some players in his position room during the 2024 season, calling out their note-taking habits and "weak-ass haircuts" in a behind-the-scenes clip from an upcoming documentary following the program's 2024 season.

The six-part series titled "The Tides that Bind" will be released Wednesday by FOX Nation, and in an advance copy of the first episode viewed by AL.com, Shephard lit into his position room before the Georgia game last September.

"I'm tired of sugar coating s--- for people in this room anymore," Shephard told his position room in the documentary, according to AL.com. "I'm not sugar coating. It's a tell-tale sign our two receivers who have the most production in the room are the two taking notes right now. It's a tell-tale sign that's how it is. I'm sick of this s---. The ball goes in the air, we've got to want it. Everybody wanna be cute. All these weak-ass haircuts y'all got. S--- all pristine and s---. Ain't nobody got no dog in them."

Through the first three games last season -- entering the Georgia game -- wide receivers Ryan Williams (10 catches, 285 yards) and Germie Bernard (eight catches, 125 yards) accounted for almost 60% of the team's receiving yards. Other receivers with catches at that point were Kobe Prentice (five for 77 yards), Caleb Odom (five for 45 yards), Emmanuel Henderson (two for 20 yards), Rico Scott (two for 14 yards), Kendrick Law (one for 22 yards) and Cole Adams (one for five yards). Receivers Amari Jefferson, Bubba Hampton and Jaren Hamilton did not have catches at that point.

Prentice, Odom, Law and Henderson all entered the NCAA transfer portal when it opened in December, while Jefferson and Hamilton entered after Alabama's bowl game in January.

Alabama finished last season with 3,073 receiving yards, the fewest for the program since 2017. When asked in December about the production in the receivers room, especially among the players who transferred out, coach Kalen DeBoer cited, "our style this year, it was all about whatever it took to win," and added, "I'll credit those guys. They did a great job of doing whatever they needed to do to help us win. We got a lot of unselfish guys."

Alabama added Miami transfer Isaiah Horton for the 2025 season along with two freshmen in Derek Meadows and Lotzeir Brooks to a room that returns Williams and Bernard as its headliners.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The City of Brunswick was coated in a blanket of ice and snow Wednesday after a historic snow event overnight.

The winter storm’s disruptions were a welcome January gift to some like Gerard Stark, who got the day off school and busted out a makeshift sled for some rare fun in the snow.

“I even built three snowmen. One melted. Two I just built,” said Stark.

Others like Jonathan Nichols got a crash course in winter chores, as he scraped off his windshield before hitting the road to Brantley County.

“It’s South Georgia! We shouldn’t go through this, but hey! It happens sometimes, I guess,” said Nichols.

The winter weather isn’t all fun and games though.

Road conditions were icy on parts of I-95, closing some bridges and causing a few accidents our crews witnessed on their drive up North.

Lawton Dodd with Glynn County said crews worked through the day to make roads in town passable.

“Public works is putting sand out at intersections where it’s needed to be, where there’s ice and slippery roads,” said Dodd.

Power outages were also a major problem.

“It’s going on and off. Like every 30 minutes it’ll go off,” said Nichols.

More than 25,000 in the county were experiencing outages as of mid-day.

“They’re getting the number down rapidly, but they are bringing in extra crews to go to work and get things back up and running as quickly as possible,” said Dodd.

While power crews were hard at work restoring power throughout the day Wednesday, the icy roads are only expected to worsen overnight.

“We are urging people to stay off the roads,” said Dodd.

Dodd explained snow melted throughout the day is expected to refreeze overnight, producing hazardous road conditions.

“The roads are gonna be icy. There’s gonna be black ice. It’s going to be treacherous,” said Dodd.

Due to the dangerous travel situation, Glynn County Schools and government offices for Glynn County and the City of Brunswick will remain closed Thursday.

The county also declared an overnight curfew running from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday in hopes of discouraging people from driving on the roads and to keep loiterers off the streets.

Dodd said there is some optimism things will be able to get back to normal by Friday though.

“That could change, but temperatures, the forecast, everything we’re looking at seems to indicate that it’ll warm up enough tomorrow, and it shouldn’t get cold enough again to see all the refreezing issues,” said Dodd.

Despite the challenges, some like Nichols planned to brave the roads Wednesday.

In his case, for the payoff of even more snow at a family member’s property further West.

But Nichols says he’s going to let dad do the driving.

“He’s gonna be behind the wheel. I’ve driven in it once before. I was up in New Jersey with my uncle. But once. I hated it. I’m not doing it again,” said Nichols.

For those without power or a way to stay warm, the county is opening three warming centers.
