Visit a Showroom

Visit a Showroom

This tip might seem like a no-brainer to some, but it's important that you visit a showroom so that you can lay on different beds to get a feel for what you like. At Mattress King, you will have the chance to explore different styles, designs, and shapes, and mattress materials. Finding a bed online at a price you can afford is great, but you should lie on the bed first, not just look at it on a screen.

Determine Budget

Determine Budget

Here's a surprising fact: just because a mattress costs more money, it doesn't mean it's going to be a better bed. Sure, more expensive beds might have newer technologies and materials, but not everyone has the budget to walk into a mattress store in Westcott and spend $3,000. Figure out what price range you're comfortable paying and look at the best options for your bottom line.

Consider Bedroom Size

Consider Bedroom Size

Before you swing by our showroom and start trying out beds, it might be a good idea to measure the space where your new mattress will go. If your bedroom is on the small side, a king-sized bed might be too big. Similarly, a small bed in a huge room might make for strange aesthetics. Aim for a reasonable amount of room around your bed - enough where you can walk around comfortably. As mentioned above, get specific measurements of the area you plan to use. That way, you have peace of mind knowing your new mattress will fit in your bedroom.

Consider Bedroom Size

Choose a Mattress Material

This tip often comes down to personal preference. It will take a little bit of trial and error to figure out which material works best for your back - innerspring, memory foam, or latex. While your friend's and family's opinions matter, keep in mind that their mattress choice was subjective. What works for them won't necessarily work for you.

Need a quick refresher on different mattress materials? Here's a quick overview
 King Bedroom Sets Westcott, SC

Innerspring

Also called coil mattresses, innerspring beds are probably the most well-known on this short list. Innerspring mattresses are often more affordable than their latex and memory foam counterparts. These beds are ideal for people who want a lot of support and a cooler night's sleep.

Latex

This material is known for its great cooling properties and overall comfort. With latex, there are no strange off-gassing odors like you sometimes get with memory foam. Latex mattresses are ideal for people who want a responsive, bouncy feel and may have problems sleeping hot.

Memory Foam

First developed by NASA in the 70s, memory foam is probably the most popular material in the modern mattress market. Memory foam conforms to every inch of your body, giving you maximum comfort and support. Memory foam is also know for its anti-motion properties. Memory foam can be a great choice if you tend to toss and turn at night and sleep with a partner who wakes up when you do. Memory foam mattresses are ideal for people who need pressure relief, good support, and refreshing comfort.

Think About Your Back

Think About Your Back

If you have a bad back, it's crucial that you find a mattress with proper support. Slat and spring beds often offer plenty of support, but latex and memory foam options have come a long way. If you want memory foam or latex but find the support to be subpar, consider an adjustable base instead of a normal platform. That way, you can always sleep in a comfortable position that benefits your back.

"I am honored to be joining such a celebrated, award-winning brand and look forward to partnering with the talented leadership team to continue Iron Hill's legacy of delivering quality food and beverage, alongside unmatched service experiences." said Westcott.

Most recently, Mr. Westcott served as the Chief Executive Officer of Rosa Mexicano, a full-service restaurant offering fresh, contemporary, upscale Mexican cuisine in New York City and other major metropolitan areas. Prior to Rosa Mexicano, he spent over 20 years with McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks and participated in the brand's growth from 8 to 93 units. Chris's entrepreneurial and creative spirit also led him to open and operate his own restaurants earlier in his career. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Mr. Westcott chose the restaurant industry at an early age, rising through the ranks in various operational roles before moving to the executive level of nationally recognized restaurant brands.

"We are excited to bring someone with Chris's background to the Iron Hill family. His culinary experience is impressive and complements Iron Hill's commitment to both traditional and innovative from scratch cooking," said Kevin Finn, Co-Founder, Chairman of the Board and Acting CEO. "Culturally, I believe Chris brings the same values and commitments to our guests and our employees that I instilled at Iron Hill since the first restaurant opening in 1996."

"As we move forward and continue our expansion into new regions, I look forward to working with Chris to introduce our unique, locally brewed seasonal and signature beers to new guests and to continue exploring new ideas in the craft beer universe," commented Mark Edelson, Co-Founder and Head of Brewery Operations.

"Chris's breadth and depth of experience, leadership style and success winning the hearts and minds of the organizations he has led sets him apart in the industry," said Nathan Myers, Principal with A&M Capital Opportunities, the lead investor in the Company.

Iron Hill serves local communities, brews its own craft beers on-site, and offers a complete food menu made from scratch daily. It prides itself on excellent service and direct engagement with the guest throughout the entire experience. Demonstrative of the company's aggressive expansion plans, Iron Hill opened four locations during the pandemic. They include an Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant in Newtown, PA as well as two locations in the greater Atlanta, GA market (Buckhead and Perimeter). In December 2020, Iron Hill opened its new concept, Iron Hill Brewery TapHouse, an elevated fast casual concept offering a one of kind laid-back vibe foraging innovative fare and award-winning craft beer. The TapHouse also houses the companies first large-scale production brewery with the ability to produce 20,000 barrels of beer annually, about 20 times the amount at one of its restaurants.

About Iron HillFounded in Newark, DE in 1996 by Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson and Kevin Davies, Iron Hill is the most award-winning brewery east of the Mississippi River, and one of the most enduringly successful craft brewery and restaurant concepts in the United States. Now with 20 locations across DE, NJ, PA, SC, and GA, each Iron Hill features an on-site craft brewery and scratch kitchen, pairing the freshest ingredients with the highest quality grains and hops. In 2020, the group expanded with the opening of its first large, full-scale production brewery in Exton, PA to bring the same delicious craft signature beer and seasonal favorites to larger consumer audiences. Iron Hill also unveiled the TapHouse at the Exton brewery, an elevated fast-casual concept offering an upbeat, inviting atmosphere, must try food and award-winning beer. No matter what type of on-camera flash you rely on for your photoshoots, you’ll need a long-lasting power solution to get you through multi-location portrait sessions, wedding receptions, and shoots in the studio. Fortunately, most speedlight and on-camera flashes integrate seamlessly with high-capacity camera-flash battery packs.

Camera Flash Battery Packs

Rechargeable battery packs are a cost-effective and efficient power solution for photographers. Most flash battery packs are compact so you can integrate them into your normal photography kit without worrying about physically accommodating a lot of extra equipment while you shoot.

When you’re firing flashes in rapid succession, you need to minimize the time required for your batteries’ power level to fully recycle. Traditional AA and AAA batteries aren’t robust enough for operating a flash, so you’ll experience increasingly longer recycling times the longer you shoot.

Camera-flash battery packs are designed for faster recycling, so no matter how fast your flash fires, you don’t have to worry about delays or overheating flash units. Eliminating disposable batteries from your workflow is also a more eco-friendly choice.

Flash and camera cables facilitate your camera’s communication with your flash units. These specialized cables transmit vital information about power level, timing, and flash duration, so it’s always a good idea to choose cables made by the same manufacturer as your flash unit for accuracy and efficiency.

Brackets, battery holders, and carrying pouches make it easy to position your flash’s power accessories exactly where you need them for the most functional setup. You can wear your power packs on your belt, attach them to the camera itself, or carry them in a pouch with a strap.

Every on-camera flash unit is different and has its own set of technical specifications and power requirements. Powering your flash unit with the right battery pack is an important step for prolonging the life and functionality of your gear. Choosing brand-specific power packs ensures your gear works as expected every time.

Camera Flash Battery Packs from Industry Leading Brands

Nikon, Canon, Quantum, Flashpoint, and Westcott are some of the top names in professional-quality flash units for photography. Investing in flash batteries by these and other leading brands helps you prepare for and execute every photo shoot. Turn on your flash knowing you’ll have all the juice you need to shape the light to perfection with one of these battery packs.

Andy Westcott was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, near Detroit. He grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, where he attended school through his freshman year, later moving to Germantown, Pennsylvania, where he finished high school.

His father was a drummer, so naturally Westcott started playing drums. Their garage never had a car inside. They always had a drum set and instruments with amplifiers setup ready to jam. When they attended family get-togethers, there was always a lot of musical instruments around, and Westcott always gravitated to the guitar. After this selection process, his father got him his own guitar.

YouTube and VHS tapes were his main source of instruction, and he started to learn songs by listening to them. The Northwest High School music teacher also taught computer literacy, so the music students learned how to digitally record and edit music. The students were encouraged to partner and create their own song and record it. These were the only official music classes Westcott took. He graduated in 2003.

He talked his younger brother into playing bass. They started their first band, The Westcott Brothers, and played around the Washington, D.C., area until about 2005. The band eventually broke up. His parents had moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. Andy devised a plan: move to Knoxville, move back in with his parents, get some gigs, earn some money and then move to Nashville and become a star.

Like most plans, there are always a few modifications along the way. After a few days in Knoxville, while looking for work, Westcott became associated with a band called Homemade Wine. They became good friends. They needed a bass player, and he became their bass player. They were on the road, along the East Coast, almost constantly.

Homemade Wine played their first Key West gig, at the Lazy Gecko, during the 2010 Meeting of the Minds week. A number of the regulars couldn’t travel, so it became an acoustic trio. From that point, the band morphed into an electric guitar, high-energy band, with a Southern Trop Rock twist.

From 2010-2015, they traveled almost constantly, wearing out a couple vehicles — and a couple musicians. They were invited to play the Nashville-based 2015 Bonnaroo Music Festival. They bought a Winnebago camper in Knoxville, headed to Bonnaroo and had a great time that ended too soon.

While in Nashville, they met Carolyn Guarini, who had just moved from Key West. She started booking and managing the Homemade Wine Band. They toured through the end of 2015 and the band broke up.

Westcott planned a return to Key West with Guarini. He quickly adapted to the Key West music scene, playing with Jeff Clark, Ross Brown, Caffeine Carl, Rick Fusco, Jesse Wagner and the Happy Dog Band. At first, he would sit in and play a song with someone, then he would get invited to come play with a group one night, and then someone couldn’t make it and he would get asked to do a gig with a group — that usually leads to “Hey, why don’t you play all the gigs with us?” Westcott made the transition from Homemade Wine to playing with 20 different Key West musicians at a variety of venues.

He describes his original music and sound as “blues-driven, Southern roots” music. He’s currently settling into a groove with Hiram Garzaro, Henry Lysy and Rick Fusco known as Andy Westcott Band. In Key West, original music is not just tolerated but enthusiastically appreciated. It seems like we have a new album release every month or so. Stay tuned, there is a new Andy Westcott Band album coming soon.

According to Westcott, people know why they are coming to Key West. It’s very simple — there are a couple of beaches, a concentration of clubs and tons of music. Andy says even if someday he makes it to mega-star status, he will still love playing in dimly-lit comfortable clubs.

Like other Key West stories, there was this one night everyone was having a good time playing at the Hog’s Breath Saloon, and a person walked up to the stage and asked, “Can I sing with you guys?” Westcott is always a little skeptical about someone he doesn’t know. An excited local came running up to the stage, and said “Hey, that’s Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys.” Yeah, OK, sure you can sing with us. Nick suggested “Man in the Box”, a real heavy hard rock song by Stone Temple Pilots. The group knew it well enough to play it. Carter’s vocals gave everyone in the band goosebumps. By this time, about 15 women are in front of the stage with their cellphones recording.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone, Marjorie Lee, one of Westcott’s favorite Key West vocalists, climbed up in the tree behind the group and started singing a Backstreet Boys song, while hanging in the tree limb — only in Key West.

Inside Iron Hill Brewery's 'pretty aggressive growth plan' with CEO Chris Westcott

Iron Hill Brewery has laid out “a pretty aggressive growth plan” for the coming years as the Wilmington company looks to ramp up its presence in existing markets while also expanding into new states, CEO Chris Westcott said.

Part of Westcott’s strategy since stepping in as CEO last October has been an emphasis on growing the 20-location brand into additional territories, positioning it to “become a bigger player” in the hospitality industry, he said. Northern Virginia, Maryland and Columbus, Ohio are top of mind.

The goal is to open about five new locations per year for the next five years, he added. The first couple would be full-service restaurants, while the following few would be the company’s more fast-casual TapHouse model that got its start last year in Exton.

Iron Hill Brewery is using “a hub and spoke model” to actualize that growth, Westcott said, meaning the brand plans to enter new territories by opening a full-service restaurant and then “sprinkle in” some of the smaller-version TapHouses in the surrounding area. The idea is to increase brand awareness in a new market with the full-size product before branching out. In already established markets, the brand can dive right in to rolling out new TapHouses.

For example, a few years ago Iron Hill Brewery opened a full-service outpost in Greenville, South Carolina. It’s now looking at several sites in Greenville, Spartanburg and up into Charlotte, North Carolina, for potential TapHouses because the original Greenville outpost “is tucked in close to those other communities,” Westcott said.

Iron Hill Brewery currently has a location under construction in Columbia, South Carolina, and a year after its opening would look to debut TapHouses “in other pocket areas of Columbia,” Westcott said. The same is true in Atlanta, where Iron Hill Brewery currently operates two locations.

The expansion model takes extra planning as the company grapples with ongoing labor shortages and supply chain issues, Westcott said. Items that used to arrive in 12 to 16 weeks now come in 40 to 50 weeks, meaning you have to think a year in advance, he said.

“That just gets costly because you have requirements to open in a certain time from the point where you sign your lease,” said Westcott, who was formerly CEO of restaurant chain Rosa Mexicano. “So it's more stressful, it's more expensive. Cost is out of control.”

Westcott also sees “plenty of room” to build additional TapHouses in Pennsylvania “without cannibalizing” Iron Hill Brewery’s existing full-service restaurants. The brand is similarly eyeing additional space in South Jersey, where Westcott noted liquor licenses can go for three times the cost in Pennsylvania — which is already known to be hefty versus other markets.

New locations will largely begin launching in 2023. While the Covid-19 omicron variant dealt another blow to the hospitality industry at the start of this year, Iron Hill Brewery decided to spend 2022 focusing on revamping its existing fleet, which includes 20 locations throughout Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Georgia.

Special attention is being paid to refreshing Iron Hill Brewery outposts that are at least 15 years old, Westcott said. Many such locations have outdated layouts, including separated dining spaces that date back to former smoking and non-smoking sections.

Investments are ranging from $150,000 to $325,000 for improvements at existing locations, he added.

The Ardmore outpost is on the cheaper end of that scale, for example, while Lancaster is on the upper level because the brand looks to remove separation between dining areas, expand the bar, modernize design while moving away from the “older steakhouse-looking furnishings,” and revamp floor coverings.

Such investments will better bridge the older Iron Hill Brewery locations with the new forthcoming outposts, Westcott said.

As Iron Hill Brewery works to expand its reach, the company is also focusing on finding new ways to connect with customers.

One method is via an upcoming quarterly subscription program dubbed “The Craft Beer Society,” where members would have access to exclusive brews. Membership costs $40 per quarter and includes two 16-ounce cans of four beers.

Iron Hill looks to launch the program in time for Father’s Day.
